Athletes traded pavement for water and trails Sunday as the Black Hawk YMCA hosted its annual sprint triathlon at George Wyth State Park, one of the Cedar Valley’s signature endurance events.
The race kicked off at 9 a.m. Sepember 13, with competitors tackling a 500-meter swim, a 16.5-mile bike leg, and a capping 5K run, all set against the backdrop of the state park’s lakes and river trails.
Organized through the Black Hawk YMCA, the race drew competitors from across the region for a distance that proved approachable for first-timers while still demanding enough to appeal to seasoned triathletes looking to close out the summer racing season.
